Today’s video is slightly different to the usual. I have put together a video of stretches to do when you have just woken up, feeling stiff or if your back is a little sore.
I’ve thrown in a few known Pilates exercises, but I really wanted to focus on stretching.
We so often overlook stretching. Pilates is great to stretch the whole body, but sometimes the body needs more stretching, where we hold stretches longer.
Stretching is great for loosening tight muscles, preventing injury, allowing more flexibility and mobility, and makes you feel relaxed and supple.
I stretch most days, even if it is just a few stretches for a few minutes as my back and calf muscles get really tight from teaching, and some of these stretches have made such a massive difference.
Try the different exercises/stretches and feel free to take the ones that work for you and incorporate them into your Pilates sessions or into daily life.
This video focuses mainly on back, hips, a bit of hamstrings and glutes. I plan to do another video or 2 to include arms, shoulders, upper back, chest and legs more. So that you have a variety of stretches to do when you need them.
