Frequently Asked Questions

Pilates is a low-impact exercise method focused on strengthening the core muscles, improving postural alignment, and enhancing flexibility. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 2oth century, it emphasises controlled, precise movements and breathwork, fostering a strong mind-body connection.

The benefits of Pilates include improved core strength, better posture, increased flexibility, enhanced pelvic floor, reduced back pain, and enhanced athletic performance. It is suitable for all fitness levels and can be adapted to meet individual needs and goals, making it an excellent choice for those seeking to improve their overall physical health and well-being. As Joseph Pilates said:

“If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. If it is completely flexible at 60, you are young.”

Of course. The private coaching session is ideal as we go at your pace and can make sure everything makes sense and understand why we are doing the movements. It is a great way to get the hang of Pilates or exercise before moving on to a class or continuing with 1:1.

Absolutely! In fact, I would recommend that you do. Pilates during your pregnancy will keep your body strong and mobile. It will keep your core strong, which will help with delivery and recovery. Sessions are modified to accommodate pregnancy.

Yes, of course. I want Pilates to be accessible to you and it is so beneficial during the postpartum period. If you need to bring your baby along, so you get the chance to exercise, then of course bring them along.

Most injuries still allow you to continue with a session with modifications and options.

It is always best to be checked over by a medical professional before coming along.

If in doubt, always contact us, we are happy to talk it through with you.

If you feel self-conscious, then the 1:1 sessions are a perfect way to do Pilates without anyone else around.

It is also a really great way to get used to the movements and feel better in yourself and then if you choose to move to a class setting you can.
