Today is National Fitness Day! Let me tell you how fitness can help you with your romantic relationship.
This might seem like an odd one, but there are so many benefits to your relationship when fitness is a part of your life, especially if your relationship isn’t where you want it to be.
When your romantic relationship is going through a rough patch, you may not think to keep going with your fitness regime but it is really important to keep going with it.
When we exercise, this could be Pilates, dance cardio, walking, running, gyming, whatever is your way to exercise, we tap into so many amazing benefits.
De-stress
If your relationship is going through a rough patch, you’ll be stressed. What better way to release stress than to move the body through exercise? This will help you de-stress and feel more calm and relaxed.
Boost your mood
Your relationship might be bringing up all sorts of emotions in you, anger, frustration, sadness, etc. These will lower your mood and make you feel rubbish. Exercise is a really great way to lift your mood. It helps you shift these emotions and bring you into a more positive mood. This will in turn help you get through the difficulties in your relationship, help you make better decisions and lift you out of what could be a downward spiral.
More focus
You might find you are having difficulty concentrating and staying focused at work or other areas of your life. This is totally normal when your romantic relationship is going through a bad patch. Exercise gives you that time to not only get the good hormone boost that lifts your mood, but also means you spend 30, 60, 90 minutes focusing on what you are doing and how you are moving your body. This is such a powerful way to get out your head and focus on something different. It helps clear your mind and allows you to focus better.
This is also really important when you are trying to make decisions. Time off from thinking about what to do in your relationship, means your subconscious can put things together, your intuition can kick in and the right answers come to you when you need them.
Release tension
We hold our emotions in our body. Your body will be more tense and holding onto whatever is going on. Moving the body helps release all of that tension. You can’t stay tense and move the body at the same time.
Sleep better
You are more likely not sleeping properly as you will be thinking about your relationship and everything that comes with that. Exercise helps you sleep better as it is tiring you out more, but also because it is de-stressing you, lifting your mood, getting you out your head and removing tensions. When you sleep better, everything is easier, you can make better decisions, stay calmer, feel in a better mood, have more concentration and focus, more energy.
Be energised
Talking about energy. You know how when your relationship is not where you want it to be and you spend lots of time and energy thinking about it, worrying about it, going through a whole rollercoaster of emotions, well, all of that is super draining. Guess what? Exercise energises you! Another great reason to make sure you are fitting exercise into your schedule.
Be more confident
Exercise makes you more confident. This is important when your relationship is struggling as it means you have the confidence to speak your mind, you have the confidence to stand up for yourself, you have the confidence to do something about your relationship, you have the confidence to make the decisions needed. Being confident in your relationship is really important as otherwise you won’t face the things that need facing, you won’t say what needs saying, you won’t do what needs doing.
I think those are plenty of reasons to keep going with your exercise during rough times in your relationship. This is why I have included Pilates as part of my Warrior Love Programme, because it makes such a huge difference. If you want to exercise more but unsure what to do, come along and try Pilates and Burlexercise. Use code FitnessAndLove to try a class for free. Valid until 24th October 2020.
